WOW! I did not know that my Sackboy would get this much attention! Shocked I'm not complaining though...

I really don't know anything but scarves when it comes to knitting so I'm probably not much help! lol However, here is a link to a knitting pattern for a Sackboy http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00686/SKM49_2__proj_sackb_686954a.pdf.

I'm flattered that you would want to steal my idea!! Have fun!

I'm probably not going to attempt Sackboy again. I would have written down my pattern if I would have know it was going to get so much attention! Buuuut...I didn't.  Sad He was a "work in progress" for about three weeks. I didn't work on him every day so it's more like two weeks, but I could only stand to work on him for a few hours at a time! It was so frustrating to figure out all of his components. Now, with most of the construction work written out hopefully it will be easier for others to figure out the proportions of his parts.  Cheesy

I originally intended on making him some costumes but I finished him the day before Christmas! Once I had his body done, I really procrastinated on the decorating part... Roll Eyes

Your Sackboy is cute! My Sackboy saw yours and is now embarrassed that he's still naked... Embarrassed

This is really great. He's pretty irresistible.

Last night I told my wife she needed to start work ASAP on a life-sized crocheted Sackboy costume for me if it's going to be done by Halloween.

Wow. Great job!

Im working on a pattern of my own, however, I am having trouble with the open mouth version (I did a normal version and sewed in a line for his mouth).

For your mouth, how did you go about decreasing the stitches? Im a little green to crochet, (only making afghans and scarves) so crocheting in the round is an entirely new concept for me.

The mouth was really easy to do. I didn't decrease at all. You just crochet in the round until you get to the place where you want the mouth to start. Instead of crocheting like normal, count out how many stitches wide you want the mouth to be and then chain that many. You want to skip over all of those stitches you normally would have crocheted into, and connect your chain to the other side of the mouth. The amount of stitches you skip must correspond to the number you chained. Then you just continue crocheting in the round. You should have a nice big hole for the mouth now. Right after I did that, I sewed in the mouth piece.

That's how I did mine. Other than that, I don't know how you would go about actually crocheting an open mouth. I'm still pretty new to crocheting in the round too. Good luck with your pattern!  Smiley

Edit: I sat down and figured it...doh! realizing what you meant above, Im going to attempt to do what I have planned. Hope to post my results..

THANKS for the inspiration and insight to your version!
