I had a hard enough time sewing on a zipper.  The thought of making a quilt is already making me dizzy.  That is amazing!

That quilt is amazing!  I've always wanted to make a quilt, but never tried yet.  I'm in the middle of making an afghan for the husband, but I think a quilt might be my next big project.

Thanks for all the great compliments. I had a ton of fun making the quilt, but I hate doing bindings, so I procrastinated a lot on it. I think I am addicted to log cabin stuff now, I have a quilt planned for me, and one for my husband, and I want to to acquire as many scraps as I can to make even more.

When I first wanted to learn how to sew 2 years ago my husband bought me a sewing machine and a week later he was like "you aint made nuthin yet?" I checked Michaels for sewing classes and all they had was a quilt class. I learned how to sew by first making quilts. Before the class I was super intimidated because of all the straight lines and how intricate it looked but it was super easy and I loved it. I have since made over 50 quilts. They really are easy to make. A lot easier than a twirly dress for the daughter with lots of ruffles. I'm making a patchwork skirt right now for my daughter but not the traditional one. It has 8 gores (so you sew the columns together vertically instead of rows together horizontally) and each gore has 3 tiers. There are 3 different sizes for each tier plus bottom ruffle and waistband so 11 pattern pieces for 1 skirt...for a 5 yr old. Here's a pic of the pattern: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/medium/twirly_skirt1.jpg[/img]] So instead of sewing the whole row together and then gathering the top I have to gather the top of each tier to attach to the one above it. I got about half way done last night. I hope to finish tonight. I'm dreading the 29 ft bottom ruffle. But I'm loving the fabrics I chose so can't wait to finish it. I tried to finish this morning but my wonderful son decided to mess with the threads and tension on the serger and an hour later I still couldn't figure out how to get it to work again. That thing frustrates me more than anything.
