Most people make knock-off of expensive bags, like Coach and Chanel and the like. But I made a knock-off of a bag I got from Wal*Mart for about $10.   Cheesy  I bought the original bag on a whim and it quickly became my favorite bag because of the size and number of pockets.  Since it was cheap though, I knew it wouldn't last forever (I've already had to fix the inside pocket lining twice), so I decided to make my own version.   Smiley

the original is on the left and my version is on the right.

i used muahtimespi's tutorial and the original as guides.

on to more pictures:

a close-up of the outside pockets.  I decided to go with just a button for the one instead of a flap that the original has because the flap just seemed like too much work.   Tongue

the lining.

close-ups of the inside pockets.  i also added the open pocket on the inside that the original bag didn't have.

The only fabric I bought specifically for this bag was the outside canvas.  The rest was all from my stash.
Even though I used the same (or at least I thought the same) measurements as the original bag, this one came out a bit shallower but wider.  So far everything fits in, I just don't have as much extra room as I usually like.  But we'll see how things work out.

Love the fabrics that you used! I prefer your new one over the bought one, actually. Great job!
