Hey chickens can be pets too and in fact they will be my first pet that actually contributes back to the household. Grin So here is the deal I am currently trying to build a coop I am trying to acquire an old shed so I can limit the amount of construction I will actually have to be involved in. But at this point I am still looking. I was wondering if anyone could help me with ideas on how to do this "cheep"ly (I'm aware that was rather dorky) and perhaps with a nice homey touch. I'm also considering making it mobile since I will be moving soon and they will need to come with me. We also have some time since we have just begun incubating the eggs. I appreciate anything you guys can help me with!!

My brother fenced off part of his yard for the chicken to wander around in. It leads to a ramp that goes into the garage window. From there, the chickens enter a "loft" in the garage that has their food and nesting area. It's pretty sweet, and they still have full use of the garage as the chickens live on a raised platform. He even put in a pulley to access their pic food gizmo. Now he is dreaming of making a nest box that can be accessed from the kitchen window!  Cheesy
Another friend who has chickens recommends Mother Earth News for lots of chicken raising info.
