This is a little late...better late than never?

My weasel's current favorite toy is a shoe box with just a little bit of rice in the bottom of it.  They dig in it and thrash around and go nuts. No hearing required!

It is pretty late. lol. But it's ok. Ruby tries to eat things she shouldn't though so this won't work for her. I'll try it for the other 3 ferts though!

I'm so sorry for your losses.  I wish they could all live forever.

I would still like to add to the thread as there are a lot of homemade toys that ferrets enjoy.
Our ferrets love the rice box, we use several inches of rice and they actually bury themselves in it.  You can also use the cornstarch packing peanuts (the kind that dissolve in water, not the Styrofoam kind) in a cardboard box...  they love to dig and tunnel in them.  In the winter, we've filled clean litter pans with snow and brought them inside for the ferrets to play in.  It melts quickly, but they have fun while it lasts.  I have heard of people using clear plastic dryer tubing for tunnels, but I've not been able to find it.  The aluminum kind seems to be the only thing I can find and I'm afraid of the sharp edges.  You can let them unroll cheap rolls of TP...  You can fill up a small wastebasket with "trash" and let them dump it over.  The small rope toys for dogs are good for chewing on and disappearing into hidey holes.  You can search thrift stores for baby activity blankets and put those down during playtime.  You can make toys from braided and tied strips of fleece.

Whew...  I hope that gives some ferret owners some ideas.  Ferrets are great and always good for a laugh.
