Very nice... oh, and the armor looks good too  Wink

I have a friend who makes his armor out of the same stuff, but his is a lot more segmented for mobility... how is your mobility with only the three sections?  I have to say I like the look of your better than his.

The riveting work looks great.  You did a great job fitting it to yourself.  Can't wait to see your finished kit!  What kingdom are you with?
Ah! Thank you! I actually had a leather cuirass similar to this, but wanted better protection. I am of the Shire of Vogleburg, Kingdom of Gleann Abhann. And you?

Trimaris, in south Florida.  Are you going to Gulf Wars?
Yes. This will be my first war! I can't wait to get killed! Cheesy
My SCA name is 'Sweet'. So...yeah. (At least I will respond to that moniker when called)

And I can't wait to see my man get killed!  It's our first big event, other and a crown war.  This should be huge!

That's pretty super, and cool to know it will actually be put to use.

great job! Having watched some sca tournaments (and about to go to the local candlemas event) I can just imagine how many bruises that will save you from! Plus knowing NOTHING about how to make armor it looks rather complex. >.>

I can move quite well in it. My mobility is only hampered by the common curse shared amongst nearly all cuirasses: when sitting, the neckline rides up a bit. But I don't plan on fighting while seated upon a bench! ;p
Thank you for your compliment!

Glad ye like it! Cheesy
The design is a bastard cross between Roman 'Lorica Segmenta' armor and 'Charburg' syle (A mid to late Germanic type).
And the overlapping 'ribs' Absorb blows like some kind of awesome thing that absorbs blows really effectively whose name I cannot remember as of right now.

what a neat idea and thanks so much for the definition of SCA. I've been trying to figure it out for weeks.  I'm going to pass this on to my brother as he loves to try to make Armour and such out of inexpensive materials. He doesn't do SCA but we go to ren. faire every year and he likes to have something that looks close to authentic but isn't. Thrifty I guess. lol

Very cool. And your hair is teh win. Smiley
