i've kinda been MIA for a hot minute, but i am BACK IN ACTION Grin

here are som new dresses that i made to celebrate 2009 (because 2008 was a wretched year):

i just finished this one today Cheesy you can't really tell by the pictures, but the grey has a little sparkle to it! i really like the way this one turned out; very geometric and retro (and, in case anyone wants to know, i was totally listening to elton john the entire time i was working on this. trufax). i'm thinking about making more of these in different colors. thoughts?

kind of playing around with wierd fabrics here. the purple/blue flowered is an odd vintage piece i found at on old lady fabric still a couple years ago. it is set as raglan sleeves, although i'm not sure if you can tell since my hair is in the way!

some REAL randumb fabrics that shouldn't work together.. well... i think they do, anyway Tongue the brown is from a dress (i have previously used bits for another dress, i think my last post?) so it's technically a reconstruction... shh. the white is a thick sweater knit, and the hot pink is some thermal awesomeness. i threw the hot pink on as a last resort because i ran out of enough brown to work with! Shocked i like it, though.

boring green dress, but the fabric is so silky and slinky and it looks soooo good on. sometimes simple is just right Smiley

this one drove me NUTS. i thought i had a good idea, but looking back on it... uhm, wat? i put in the turtleneck, and the end result looked so ridic (and not in a good way), that i ended up cutting it out and trimming the neckline in pink. like so:

better? worse?

if you have any comments on these styles, pleeease let me know! sometimes i feel like my taste is a little... off from what most people wear, so i always appreciate feedback!
thanks for looking  Grin Grin Grin

sometimes i feel like my taste is a little... off from what most people wear

That can always be a good thing!!! Grin Grin

I love the green too!! It is a little shorter than I prefer, but then, I am probably old enough to be your mom! I would totally buy it if I saw it in a boutique! The blue one is definately better with the scoop neck than with the turtleneck. I also like the cream brown and pink one! You do great work! Keep it up!

I LOVE your dresses! DO you base them off of a pattern or clothes you already wear or just kinda freestyle?

WOW! I always love your stuff, especially the little contrasting bits you choose- like the sleeves and the flowers on the chest.  Good job.
