i've kinda been MIA for a hot minute, but i am BACK IN ACTION Grin

here are som new dresses that i made to celebrate 2009 (because 2008 was a wretched year):

i just finished this one today Cheesy you can't really tell by the pictures, but the grey has a little sparkle to it! i really like the way this one turned out; very geometric and retro (and, in case anyone wants to know, i was totally listening to elton john the entire time i was working on this. trufax). i'm thinking about making more of these in different colors. thoughts?

kind of playing around with wierd fabrics here. the purple/blue flowered is an odd vintage piece i found at on old lady fabric still a couple years ago. it is set as raglan sleeves, although i'm not sure if you can tell since my hair is in the way!

some REAL randumb fabrics that shouldn't work together.. well... i think they do, anyway Tongue the brown is from a dress (i have previously used bits for another dress, i think my last post?) so it's technically a reconstruction... shh. the white is a thick sweater knit, and the hot pink is some thermal awesomeness. i threw the hot pink on as a last resort because i ran out of enough brown to work with! Shocked i like it, though.

boring green dress, but the fabric is so silky and slinky and it looks soooo good on. sometimes simple is just right Smiley

this one drove me NUTS. i thought i had a good idea, but looking back on it... uhm, wat? i put in the turtleneck, and the end result looked so ridic (and not in a good way), that i ended up cutting it out and trimming the neckline in pink. like so:

better? worse?

if you have any comments on these styles, pleeease let me know! sometimes i feel like my taste is a little... off from what most people wear, so i always appreciate feedback!
thanks for looking  Grin Grin Grin

I love the green too!! It is a little shorter than I prefer, but then, I am probably old enough to be your mom! I would totally buy it if I saw it in a boutique! The blue one is definately better with the scoop neck than with the turtleneck. I also like the cream brown and pink one! You do great work! Keep it up!

I LOVE your dresses! DO you base them off of a pattern or clothes you already wear or just kinda freestyle?

WOW! I always love your stuff, especially the little contrasting bits you choose- like the sleeves and the flowers on the chest.  Good job.

Your dresses are so gorgeous! I like the "boring green" one. Just cause it really is nice and simple.  I also like the asemmetrical black/grey one too. Would be perfect with knitted (Homemade of course) Ugg Boots.

I love the style of the gray and black one and this one would be a good to try out in other colors as I think it would look just as amazing as this one.

I like the green one too - simplistic but it draws attention to the style and the fit (and the fact that you have the figure to pull it off).

I like the white one with the brown and pink trim - it is sort of retro 80s.

I think the blue one looks better after you removed the turtleneck.

I really like the black and grey one, and the green one is rather dandy too.
Also, I think the blue one looks better after the turtleneck was removed =]
You did an awesome job on these!

All are brilliant but my two faves would be the 1st one and the green dress. Regardless, they all look AWESOME.

Gorgeous - I love the green one, and that was a fantastic save on the navy one - I think it looks terrific with the new neckline.  Stick with your style.  Fashion is so rediculously fickle but style is forever  Grin

I love them; the first one is my favorite but they're all very cute. I think making it in other colors could be really fun looking! Your style is unique but not strange at all; I would be more likely to wear something like this but a bit shorter, as a top, just because I'm not much of a mini-dress person, but they are very cute. (and look very comfy!)

I'm another one who thinks the so-called boring green dress looks great! The cowl neck, the slinkiness, just right. And plus, green is my fav color, so you can't go wrong there. The first dress is also cool and other colors would be fun, as well! Definitely the navy blue one was much improved with the new neckline.

The uncomplicated (NOT boring) lines in the green dress make it my favorite. It looks smokin' hot on you, if I were you I would pimp that dress as much as possible.

happy new 2009!!

again again the green one is just amazing, something i would deffo buy. i also love the turtleneck - maybe if it were a bit longer....but i loved the idea of it being there, the dress with it looked kinda cosy. but i cant believe from the pic underneath that it was even there - your sewing skills are awesome.

congrats on them all - i love all your work from previous threads too!! its always really distinctive. im another person waiting to find out if you use a pattern or freehand....  Wink
