This year, instead of opening chocolate windows in a standard advent calendar, I decided to make a nativity set that we can unwrap in the days leading up to Christmas.  I'm hoping to create tradition for my family that we can continue through the years.  The kids really got a kick out of discovering each new character as the days passed.  There was an angel, originally, but she was broken quickly ( I guess my little heathen enjoy the story but not the religious aspects Wink ).
They are all clay, bisque fired and then painted with acrylic color.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers!
The whole shebang (I made the base at a winter craft fair workshop)

Mary Jesus and Joseph

The three wise men (as I painted I decided they were from India, Egypt and Greece)

And the shepherd with his knit sheep

haha sheep  Cheesy  lol   Smiley   festive

something to try w/them as an alternative that i've seen.....someone i knew makes sheep out of polymer...the head/body...then matchsticks the feet and then "puffs" wool (or even cotton stuffing, should you not have wool on hand, and an alternative material) around the body.  puts a little bell at neck.  turns out super cute and may "match" your theme a bit more.

nice overall  Smiley
