I am learning tablet weaving and have been able to the basics and am now trying to do double faced weaving.
the problem i have is that the weft yarn keeps showing through and i didnt think it should for this type of weaving.
There is a pic of the problem.

can anyone see where or what i have done wrong. Please help Cry
thank you.

I realize you've probably figured this out by now - but I just joined, so just saw this.

The trick with tablet weaving is to pull the threads in very tight. Use the weft itself to pull it in (you know - the way you carefully avoid in most weaving!) and then beat it down firmly. It will still show very slightly at the selvedges, but that should be all.

If you have trouble with that, try using a slightly lighter weft for a while, until you get the hang of it. That should help.

Also - what thread are you using? It's usually done with a fairly fine thread - I generally use 5/2 cotton as my heaviest. That may make a difference.

thanks very much.
I am useing a thick DK cotton knitting yarn, i thought it would be good to use a bigger thread to practice with.
I will try again with what you suggested. thanks.

I've done a bit of table weaving with worsted weight cottons .. the trick is to pull the warp tighter.  The thicker yarn is fine Smiley

it will look better also if you use one of the colors in your piece for your weft. (totally just spaced on the word.)

If i say I'm going to make it, i will. It just might take longer than expected.

It might work to beat it harder
