Big Project Stitchalong 2009

Let's keep it going another year! The 2008 Big Project Stitchalong can be found here, and the 2007 thread is here.

Some great (as in wonderful and as in BIG) projects got finished in 08; personally, I still have a long ways to go on mine. 

- HSG's challah cover
- my semi-big Rosie the Riveter, which took me away from my "real" big project
- manpan's cat and craft room

Am I missing any? I'm sure plenty of other big needlework projects were completed in 08, but these are the ones with photos in the Stitchalong thread.

Hi - I am pretty new on Craftster, but I have a big embroidery project I'm getting ready to start. I redid my daughter's bedroom and although I found a bedding set we like, it did not include a bedskirt. Plus the bed is really high. SO - I found a plain white bedskirt with an 18" drop and I'm going to embroider it in coordinating colors and motifs to go with her room. I don't have a picture since I'm not following a pattern, but I'll post a pic or two once I get started.

Sound like a project for this thread?

I'm joining in, I'll need the motivation

I just started on this http://www.scarletquince.com/pat.php?pat=UNK014 pattern from Scarlet Quince. Total size is 650 x 534 stitches, stitched on 18 count, with two strands of DMC (almost all blends of two colors).
My pattern is 54 pages long, and I am just taking it page by page.

I am going to start a big project soon ... well, not that big compared to other stuff on here but the biggest I've done so far I need to have it stitched and framed for my friend's wedding in May:

I'm gonna start soon, I just have to finish off my Dad's Christmas present first (umm, last year's Christmas  ) which is a celtic knot I'm 3/4 the way through.

Tracy Chevalier wrote a really wonderful book about this tapestry. It is one of several panels. The story itself is really good (she is one of my favorite authors) but to find out how the original was made is mind blowing.
Go you on taking on such a huge project. Cant wait to see how it turns out.

Yeah, it is the final tapestry in a series of 6, the five senses and this one. I have seen them in Paris (the museum did a wonderful job exhibiting them), and I have read the book. I am looking for some non-fiction books on these tapestries, but haven't found it so far...

Sometimes I think I am insane in doing this... when I try to calculate how many days/months/years I will be stitching  based on how fast (or rather slow) I am going now... Another 14 years to go!

Well, I am forced to slow down (actually stop) for a while now. I developed a cyst on my wrist, right (my stitching hand) and it is too painful to go on It will take at least a month or more to get it fixed, so... a forced break
