So, my MIL just sent me a pattern for a quick and dirty double-thick crocheted hot pad.  But can you use acrylic yarn for hot pads or will they melt?  Anyone know? 

You sure can!

I wish he would have frayed a bit more, but I love him.

I wonder if you clipped the edges a little would you get the look you want - it certainly should fray more.

here it is, my tiny crocheted mitten. My ornements are gold or red or orange... i found this ball of yellow yarn with some kind of shiny golden thread.... perfect!!

Here's my reindeer.  I wish he would have frayed a bit more, but I love him.  I think he'll be my Xmas present to myself

Throwing things in the washing machine and running through a cycle is great way of making edges fray.  A very vigorous
hand washing works too but not as effective.

Here are my entries.
First = Rubiks cube!!! For my best friend who is obsessed with getting the fastest possible time on her rubiks cube and any and all puzzles

I accidentally made it the right size too! I just found something square in my house to make a cube pattern on the felt and it just so happened to be perfect after the ornament was put together!

And three swallows for my friend who has three swallow tattoos on his wrist.  It has to do with his father and his siblings and the song.

Mamaandemma that crocheted mitten really is adorable! Are you going to make a mate and have a pair?

I have two more pairs of mittens to add to my collection. I think I'm going to have to make another pair of the varigated since DH has threatened to steal this one and hang it over his rear view mirror!




And here are the owl ornaments I've been working on. Thanks to this craftalong, I was motivated enough to actually finish them (backing and ribbon to hang with)!



DH picked out the colors for the first owl, and I used them again for my last one. Here's a close-up.
