I knew I wanted to make an origami box similar to the lotus flower box I posted in the paper craft forum... but I figured I had to spruce things up a little.  Here's my origami gift box on steroids from the front:

My fiance (AllieAnalogue on craftster) helped me pick out some nice square scrapbooking paper that I used for the lid and the bottom of the box.  I wanted to add a bunch of small origami flowers to the box, but they were taking way too long to make... so I decided to stitch some lucky stars onto the box to fill up the empty space (there are 14 stars... twice 7... that's lucky, right?).

I added a little heart on the side when I was done stitching everything on... It was nearly a "bleeding heart" because I stuck myself with the needle twice and almost got lovely bloody fingerprints on the box.  Cheesy

I got the idea of adding butterflies to the box because the lid had flowers on it... notice the antennae on the butterfly.

The top was a little plain, but I didn't want to put the same old lotus flower from my other post on top, so I made these different flowers and stuck a little butterfly on it.  I tried to curl the stem of the flowers in the same swirly vine pattern printed on the box.

This was fun and aggravating to make.  Grin

That box is adorable. I'd have loved to just get the box as a present! I just started making lucky stars thanks to your website.

Yeah, totally!  It's like 3-D quilting with paper!  Really gorgeous, nice use of different elements.  Not that I'm biased or anything Wink

First, I thought this is a gift box but a box like this is the gift itself. Beautiful and delicate ! And I like the stars so much !

Thanks to everyone for the really nice feedback!

I just started making lucky stars thanks to your website.

Thanks for saying that!  That's probably the best feedback I could get.  I spend a lot of time (probably too much time (definitely too much time)) on that website, so it's nice to know that people out there are learning and enjoying it.
