Usually the Berenguer babies are used for reborns. If you gogle it, there's all kinds of information on the subject. Are you looking for clothes patterns? I made some dress patterns for my daughter's Berenger baby doll. I can e-mail them to you if you pm me with your e-mail address. Make sure you put Berenguer baby in the title, otherwise I won't know what patterns you're requesting, because I've made other patterns.
I have a thread from Christmas before last showing the outfits I made with the one simple pattern.
it's here:

Hm. Friday night's episode of 20/20 had a big feature on these dolls. They showed one woman making them (a LOT of different colours & layers of paint. Seemed pretty tricky to me!). But maybe you could find that episode online somewhere. It was called something about Motherhood... or Extreme Motherhood (also had segments on repeated surrogate mothers, etc) Unless that's possibly what made you think of it in the first place!

hey that was what i was talking about, my dad was watching that, i got to see only the other half of 2020 then i had to go zzzzz
it was like, these women with no children treating these reborns as REAL babies, taking them out for walks, buying baby food, waking up in the middle of the night to feed'em, stuff like that

Hey.. a topic I actually know something about..! Heh. I'm a budding Reborn artist. I don't think its all that hard but it does take a lot of time. My first took almost 3 days of painting. And that's one thin layer of Genesis Heat Set Paints. 8-10 minutes of oven time. Let the vinyl cool. Another layer, oven, cooling, etc.  It's quite time consuming. And rooting hair. Ugh. That's evil. It took me a couple of days to root sparse hair for a preemie I just finished. Of course, I wasn't happy and pulled a lot of the hair out and started over..still. Time consuming and annoying when you break a needle.

What kit were you thinking of doing? I'm quite partial to some Bountiful Baby kits. Oh and Adrie Stoete kits. Oh oh oh! Eva Wosnjuk too! They are so cute..!

Here are a couple pics of mine (links because the images are huge :3)

Baby Sephiroth (prop for my Lucrecia cosplay) ^^;

Baby Phoebe aka Poop-face (gift for my girlfriend)

No decent pics of Phoebe. I was in such a rush to get her to my GF for christmas that I didn't take the time to take decent pics.

Although I'm still very much an amateur, feel free to ask me questions. Cheesy

ETA: The women that treat reborns as real babies are not the norm. The majority of people in this hobby do it as an artistic expression and a way to make some pocket change.

I dread every time there's a show on this hobby. The views are often so skewed and the hosts try to poke fun at the hobby and make all the hobbyists seem loopy. I never saw the 20/20 segment. But I absolutely -loathe- the segment done on the View. Its on their website somewhere.

Now I have occasionally taken one out. But that was to show it off to the girls at work and if I go somewhere after that I have to take it with me. Cars have had windows busted in because someone walking by thought a baby was left in the car. In those rare times I'm in walmart with my reborn, most people just smile and coo and don't even realize its fake until I say something. That's when the fun starts..!
