Suddenly I had a bunch of cannisters from food and a shoe box and some other boxes. What to do - decorate them of course! Using brown paper from a recent mail order and Mod Podge I covered the cannisters , I started cutting out words and phrases from some old science mags and alternative newspapers. I tried to customize the containers to the recipients interests or activities. This quickly became addictive! I really liked the way they turned out and my family loved them (I think more than the gifts inside!).    there are more pics here http://www.flickr.com/photos/26513294@N07/sets/72157611842153001/

I can see why they loved them!  Great idea for recycling those old items!
