DH and our tyke went to the park this morning (yes, it is December in Nebraska - but the weather's been decent the last few days!) and I got to do some sewing room stuff. I traced a pattern from Ottobre (1/2006, #17), and this afternoon during tyke's naptime, I managed to get it sewn up!

I think it's Supercute (ha ha). The hem and sleeve ends need to be rolled, but I have to get some black serger thread. How do I not have black serger thread?!

Supergirl raglan shirt - size 98

Detail:

I'm so excited! This is the first thing I've sewn this week! It's done entirely on the sewing machine because of the lack of the aforementioned black serger thread. (Seriously, it's a *basic color* for gosh sakes!)

She should be waking up in a few minutes...hopefully she likes it, too.

Is the comic fabric a knit?  It's awesome.  Where did you get it?

Thanks for the nice comments!

Turns out, she doesn't like it and has thus far refused to wear it. We'll try again next week.

The comic fabric is a knit. I got it from someone on a sewing forum. Maybe you could try ebay? I've seen other comic fabrics, too, not just supergirl. I'm looking for some spider-man, myself.

SOOOOO awesome. Love the fabric.
Note: on getting the little darling to wear it; I've taken to NOT making a big deal when I make something for DD and just sticking it in her closet and a sooner or later she picks it out. Otherwise, it's like she refuses to wear it just to spite me because she knows how much I WANT her to wear my creations...ah, the mother/ daughter dynamic!  Roll Eyes
