Have you ever tried Loisirs et Crations? Bet you won't leave the store of there empty handed!  Wink
It's often a little on the expensive side though

I agree on it pretty expensive. A small basket full of goodies I bought there already reached 150Euros!!!! Where I can have a 5kg boxfull of goodies from asia for that delivered with DHL!

I live in Annecy, in the Alps, with my husband. We're originally from Northern California. He found a job, which brought us out here, so we could be here f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Hi - I've had the same problem. I don't know your area, but I would recommend you check with your local churches. I know of one in my area that will take our old clothing plus they have a store where they sell the items. Good luck!

I already posted this on another thread on this section, but you should try Emmaus. It's like a charity shop (dont know if you have them in the states) Look in the pages jaunes or the web. If not Emmaus there are other charities such as Arme du Salut who have slightly smaller depot ventes. I'm in Lyon and there are a few dotted around called Bric-Brac.
Hope this helps. If not puces/brocantes are like flea markets and sometimes have clothes.

you can also try the depot/vente shops in your area. these are second hand shops.

otherwise try http://france.angloinfo.com/ and check in your region. The angloinfo forum is very useful - got may stuff there for free or very cheaply!

hi again
I just really really wanted to thank the responses that  i got . As it turns out we live like 100 meters from a tucked away Emmaus !!!!
It is just like going home to go in there , it is an amazing one, i literally danced and shouted with glee. There were so many cheap sewing notions and knitting needles and nifty things everywhere. i will be going there every saturday until the end of time now

Hi I usually spend 1-2 months a year in France - in the Tarn et Garonne region and I have found the Mondial Tissus to be the best bet, a wide range of fabrics and not too overpriced. For anyone it that area there is one in Montauban, in the Sapiac dictrict
