I have been telling everyone that will listen that my fiance got me a sewing machine for Christmas  Grin  The bad part is... erm... I don't know how to sew.  But after reading the manual I was able to figure out how to wind a bobbin, thread both the upper and lower parts, and tried out some different stitches.  After destroying some scraps I decided to try throw pillows, because isn't that everybody's first project?  You can't REALLY screw up two squares and stuffing.  I still need practice on sewing in a straight line but I think they came out pretty nifty for my first attempt and I finished them a LOT quicker than I expected.  I made them with $1.50/yd fabric from walmart.  They are super easy and simple but I am very proud  Grin

Those look great!!  GREAT fabric also, I *heart* walmarts 1.50 table

I think I'm the only one who didn't start with pillows.... I've been sewing constantly for over a year (got my sewing machine last christmas and use it almost every day) and I *just* made my first pillows like 2 weeks ago.  I can make you some pants or a bag or a doll or some curtains with no problem, but i struggle with a darn pillow lol

They look great! I got my sewing machine for Christmas a few years back and I've put it to very good use. I was a sewer since I was young (on my mom's machine) so it didn't take much for me to get the hang of using my new machine.
I should make some new throw pillows!!
