DORMANT: 2009 12" Squares (w/pattern links)

Okay, I frogged it and redid rounds 5-9, and oh boy, what a difference!  My square is...well, square!

Now I'm on round 10, and I think that's where I've really been running into problems.  It says to 3 dc in each ch2 sp.  The problem with that is that there are a lot less stitches, and it starts to curl up.  This doesn't make sense, because the note at the end of the pattern says that 10-12 are supposed to be the flattening rounds.  Any insights?

Don't worry, I found that the last round was really the flattening round, I also added an extra row of sc which helped also. Really don't worry, it will flatten.

I finished my february square. I had a totally different problem than everyone else though. I think becasue I didn't fasten off and re-attach where the pattern said to my heart is crooked in the middle!

I also wound up with one cluster of stitches less than I needed on one side so I jsut added a few to that side on the last round to make it even.

Well, I finished my first Feb square.  Same problem, Eliea...crooked heart in the center.  The pattern doesn't seem very hard to follow...I didn't think I had a hard time understanding it.  But it's undeniably a bit skewed...I think I'll do another to see if I can figure out the problem.  Still, a pretty square!

I kind of like the crooked heart squares! Gives them a bit of "whimsy!"

For Round 7, I used a pencil to check off each step as I did it. Took a bit longer, but it worked!

Mienna, I'm sure you'll be able to do it on your own! And, if you get stuck, you can always call for help when you get home. I consider myself an "advanced beginner," so if I could do it, you should be able to.

I check everything off as I go...I learned the value of that long ago!  It really helps...I think that the heart may be off simply because I joined the new yarn a stitch or two from where I should have...that little bit may have thrown the whole thing off.  Oh well!

I think that's what I did, only I never detached my yarn in the first place because I wanted to use less color changes. I don't know it wasn't hard and I like mine the way it is.
