2009 12" Squares- INACTIVE

You all put me to shame, I haven't even started my Jan square yet

Ok you guys will be proud of me as I finished my january square yesterday. I followed the directions and mine came out about 1/2 inch smaller than 12 inches so I' think I'm going to add a round of either SC or HDC to see if that fixes it. Though I don't think it matters too much since all 3 of the ones I did last year were a bit different in size.

Don't fret... I found this square to work up really fast. Like... an hour and a half tops. I have two squares done... I'm currently fighting one of my six inchers, so we'll see how that goes... Allswell that ends well!

Well I'm still working through the last bits of the grandaughters birthday day presents, and as usual I'm way behind  , its so hot here at the moment its making it a little hard to crochet.

There are so many beautiful squares and so many speedy hooks.

GatsbyGirl your squares are gorgeous the colours pop right out at you, I love the way you've joined them.

I would love to join in and make the squares with you all as soon as I'm finished these presents.

Wow I need to get moving cant wait to start this square its beautiful.

Don't despair. As of Christmas, I had only gotten through August myself. I powered through my last 8 squares and then all the assembly in under two weeks. Once you start doing the joining it goes super fast.

Ah, this gives me hope that I'll actually finish...

I'm supposed to be finishing a swap tonight, but I have some emergency gifts to make. I think that, when I finish, I'll work on the February square so I can finish trying it out. Then, I can start August '08

Here I am, late to the party.

I made mine from some weird 4-ply cotton I had that is slightly thicker than embroidery floss. I used a size 1 steel hook, and it came out to about 5 inches. (The coin in the pic is a quarter for size.)



Please excuse the lack of blocking...I'm going to do them all once they're done, try to get them to match.

I don't know what the heck I'm going to do with the squares at this size, though. Scarf, maybe? Any thoughts?

On a slightly unrelated matter, how do you all get your pictures of your work to look so nice? This was the best I could manage, and it still looks kind of overexposed or something.

Hypothetical McGee, it looks great! I can't believe how much smaller it came out. Maybe you could make a cool tote bag when they are all done?

And, my camera has a macro setting, which helps a bit. I have trouble getting the color right using a flash or the house lights (fluorescent). So, I guess I don't have any useful advice on that point

Wow some beautiful sqaures in this thread! I hope it would be okay if I join, even though its almost the end of january! I just re-started crocheting recently (haven't done it since I was really little!) and this would be the perfect way to learn all the new stitches! I am going to give the Jan square a go tonight and see how it works out! My aunt has tons of bins of yarn that she is looking to get rid of so here is my chance to use all that yarn up!

This is the perfect SAHM nap craft! I will let you all know tomorrow how my very first square goes!

So, I had to finish the afghan that I'd already started before I could start this square. (See that afghan here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=289002.0)

But, I finished that on Thursday, rested on Friday, and whipped up Esther and Mandala (the Ravelry January square) last night. It took me exactly three hours, and I had to add a round of single crochet around them to get them to 12". I used boring colors, Caron One Pounders in off white and taupe so that I could use this in my guest room, which is very neutral.
