I wanted to share this.  It is the first time I have ever completed something without a pattern.  It's a ski hat.  I used 2 skeins of wool.  It turned out pretty well.  I gave it to a friend as a gift.

This is the wool that I used:

This is a close up of the stitches:

And the final product:

Thanks for looking!  Smiley

This is fantastic! I love the colors, and the shape is classic but fun. I like your border and the twisty earflap ties. Well done!

Love it! Love it! I think the yarn is really pretty. To think you did it without a pattern is pretty doggone impressive.

Awesome job sans pattern.  I love it.  I need to make myself an earflap hat.  I love the yarn too.  It will be perfect in the middle of a bleak winter day.  Smiley

I LOVE the braids! I looks like you made them really thick! Is it sock yarn?

I have absolutely no idea what yarn it is, I got it in NZ.  Unfortunately my little darling ripped off both labels before I even had a chance to start crocheting 3 months ago (yes that's how long it took me!).  So, sorry.  I assume it is a NZ yarn.  I'm pretty sure it had acrylic in it.    Thanks for all the kind comments!
