My 5 yr old son really needed a new winter coat for this year as last year's was really too small.  We couldn't find one he liked in our price range, so we talked over our options, and he asked me to make him a coat that would make him look like a pirate. I found an image of pattern pieces for a justaucorps on a blog and used it as a guideline for this.

I finished just in time for Christmas morning

It's amazing what I can do in 5 to 10 minutes a day for two months.  The thing is fully lined, and the upper part is interlined with Thermolam for warmth. The trim is hard to see in the pictures, but it's brown and cream striped raw silk.  It's got a great bumpy texture that contrasts well with the softness of the microcorduroy.  And of course Fleur-de-lis buttons.

Voila! Justaucorps!
