I'm new to this forum.

I wanted to tell you about the cardboard spinning wheel/charkha I designed.

A description and pictures can be seen at
http://rabbitgeek.com/charka.html

I hope this gives you some ideas.

I don't sell them, but you are welcome to build one from my design for your own use.

Have a good day!

Franco!!!!

Good to see you here!  You come up with some of the best designs and/or websites.  Would you post that last list of sites (that you posted on HT) here?

Hi cyndi,

I think that would be off topic here, since that last bunch of links was for weaving,
not spinning?

I don't want to make any trouble.

Have a good day!

I wanted to say thank you for posting this! I'm very new to spinning *waves to Mullerslanefarm*  Wink, and I think I'd like to try this soon. A spinning wheel is not a practical purchase for me right now, and I like the idea of using what I have on hand. I think the only thing I might need to buy is a compass.

I found the your wheel tutorial last night via Google, and I'm glad to see that you are also on Craftster.

Thank you for your reply.

To make my compass, I taped a nail to one end of a stick with some duct tape. That was the circle center point. Then I duct taped a pencil at the appropriate distance for the radius point.

5 inch away for a 10 inch diameter circle.
4 1/2 inch away for a 9 inch diameter circle.

You might find a wooden ruler would be long enough or any straight stick.

So I made a teeny little hole where I wanted the center point to be in the cardboard, put the nail in in the hole, then by turning the stick around, the pencil draws a circle.

If you make a spinner, please let me know how it went?

What you liked, what you would do different, what you did different.

Have a good day!
