I had big plans this year for finishing off all of my Christmas presents with time to spare, but it didn't quite turn out as perfectly as I had planned Smiley

It took me until 8pm on Christmas Eve to finish off this Weekender Bag. The Christmas Eve event started at 7pm so I was a little bit late haha.

I used Amy Butler's Weekender Bag pattern and her Lacework in brown fabric:

And brown piping:

The inside is a decorator weight fabric from Ikea. Since the outside fabric was a regular cotton, I wanted to make it more durable. There is also a layer of heavy weight iron on interfacing adhered to the lining:

One modification that I made was to lengthen the straps. It's for a relative who is going on a trip in the New Year so I thought that it'd be easier to lug around with longer straps. Also, I split the pockets on the front (by sewing a seam up the middle) so that there would be 6 pockets on the outside, instead of 4.

Finished just in the nick of time, but I'm happy with how it turned out in the end Wink

I've heard the same, but everyone's bags always looks so gorgeous. I love the fabric of this bag, it makes for a great shabby chic look.

This is fantastic! You did a wonderful job with the piping, too. I like your modifications - I think longer straps would be perfect for a carry-on bag.
