They're both splendid but the first one is INCREDIBLE. I absolutely love it. Any masquerades coming up soon? Tongue

I didn't believe the first one was leather at all!! I said, 'Wow - a mask made of leaves??!!!"

Brava, brava, indeed! Amazing work!

I love your masks.

I read the tutorial and love the idea.  I never realized that mask-making with leather would actually be that accessible.

Did you do anything different from the tutorial?  Any tips for those of us that want to try it?

Where did you purchase the leather?  I've looked at my normal haunts and didn't see it available.

Wow, those are gorgeous! The first one is my favourite (love the leaves), but I also love how Venetian the second one looks! I may need to try out this craft some time in 2009!

These are both so beautiful.

My fiancee and I are going to start doing this, I think... A good festival mask is certainly in order!

Really clever. I love your designs, it reminds me of some that I saw on Phee McFaddell's website.

Amazing.  I agree with others, I really did not think LEATHER when I first saw them...They're a great contrast with eachother, but the first is definitely my favorite favorite favorite!

thank you everyone for your kindness- i love making them, its great fun

I love your masks.

I read the tutorial and love the idea.  I never realized that mask-making with leather would actually be that accessible.

Did you do anything different from the tutorial?  Any tips for those of us that want to try it?

Where did you purchase the leather?  I've looked at my normal haunts and didn't see it available.

the leather the girl uses in the tutorial is different from the stuff that I but, I just buy a hide of vegetable tanned leather in a thin thickness ( though there are some who work with thicker) and cut and shape that.
I also slightly tool my leather (like carve some veins for the leaves) before hand and then just shape it. a tutorial on youtube recommends wetting it in a water and pva mixture to make it harden a bit more, but I find no real difference between a mask with or without it.
My leather is bought from Lefflers in Melbourne- who stock a LOT of leather and leather tooling supplies. but i am sure you can get it from Tandy leather if your in the states, or go to a good saddlery and order it in if they don't stock it Smiley

Wow! That's amazing, especially the green mask. It's impressive to say the least, and I'm surprised that those masks are leather.  Grin I'm definitely giving this a "this rocks"
