Thanks to the person who posted on how to make your own dress form. I came up with this:

First I made the duct tape dress form of me and then stuffed it:

Then I made a stand out of 3 shelf mounts and an adjustable shower curtain rod (that makes the dress form adjustable to your height) and I painted it with automotive puple and blue paint:

Added some hemp and beads (I wrapped the hemp around and hot glued it to add sterdiness to the whole thing)

And now I'm covering it with material, not quite done yet, but you get the idea:

I still need to add my purple painted doorknob to the neck. But its almost done. Couldnt wait to post it!  Cheesy

Nice work! I really like the stand you created --- great use of everyday objects. How did you attach it to the bottom of your dummy?

It only cost me 10$ for 2 rolls of 48 yard duct tape. I only used one roll though.  And I had everything else lying around the house. I stuffed it with shredded newspaper and closed the areas with cardboard. The rod is actually right up against the cardboard that closes the neck. The bottom of my dummy is also closed off by cardboard, you just use an oval shape with a smal circular shape cut out of the midde, a little smaller than the rod so that it fits snuggly. If you can score a shower curtain rod at a thrift store, and buy the cheapest shelf mounts around... this thing would still cost under 35$... which is very affordable compared to the cost of an actual dressform.

Oh my! I've been meaning to get off my butt and make myself one of these - now I'm super inspired to do it! One question - how did you connect the shelf stand things to the adjustable shower rod?

I used a glue gun, but I'm sure there are better ways of doing it. Then I wrapped the hemp around to make it sturdy... it doesn't move at all. So I guess it worked!

So you just wrap the ductape around your body, then cut it off, stuff it with newspapers, and then put it on a stand?
