YAY!!!  This is my last purse/bag Christmas present to make.  Now all I have to finish is a pair of sleep pants and a tissue holder.  It looks like vinyl, but it's a textured fabric and the top band and strap are metallic light blue vinyl (?) from the Walmart clearance trim section.  This was my first attempt at reverse applique, I think it turned out pretty good.  I'm kicking myself for forgetting the magnetic snap, I might sew in a piece of velcro, but I really hate velcro.  I'm not ripping seams out that's for sure.

OMG I have that same black fabric!  LOL.  I have made lots of purses with it!  I know what you mean about the magnetic snap, I wouldn't rip seams either.  Honestly, it doesn't look like you need a closure at all.  Some purses just don't need them and I think this is one you can get away with not having anything at all!!

Yep, I should not have bothered with the closure.  I tore up my fingers and got generally frustrated trying to sew into the vinyl by hand/with pliers.  But I gifted it this afternoon and she loved it.  She said she would brag about it to her friends that they don't have a purse like hers.  (She's almost 13.)

And thanks everyone for your comments!!
