I never know what to get my best friend for Christmas/birthday/anything, so I thought what better than something handmade of course? :p She's a bit of a handbag fiend but I don't seem to remember her having a nice little evening bag for when we go out, so it was pretty convenient to find instructions for a clutch bag in one of the sponsored excerpts Cheesy I followed the instructions pretty much exactly except for adding a little wrist strap (I find clutch bags that you have to literally 'clutch' really annoying).

I found it very easy to use, if anyone is thinking about giving it a go i highly recommend it, I probably threw it together in less than two hours crafting time (though there were considerable gaps caused by lack of transport to the fabric store :p).

Anywho this is my first bag so let me know what you think Cheesy
Happy Holidays everyone xxx#

Lovely! Simple and elegant! And it will pretty much go with anything!

Very pretty, I'm sure she'll love it.  How was it sewing that satiny fabric?

Nice! I too wonder how it was sewing that satin fabric.

I've tried two clutches w/ that sateen fabric & the yarns slip out of some the seams. I think I even used a fusible webbing on the back of one of them.

What's the trick to keep the threads from unraveling & slipping out???

Thanks for all the nice comments guys Smiley

I didn't have any problems at all (even with my rickety thirty year old sewing machine) the instructions I used called for both the outside fabric and the lining to be attached to heavy fusible interfacing which I think probably helped quite a lot. When you iron it on the adhesive kind of fuses the fibres together meaning they can't fray everywhere.
