I brake for kitsch!

This is a super easy project that brightens up a room. I made these a few years back. All you need is a foam cone, large sequins and sequin pins.

I put these up in my spare bedroom, which is decorated in bright colors, as you can see from the electric lilac walls!

I am particularly fond of the leopard print star I made for the pink one! It looks like some of the sequins shifted when I had them in storage. Oops! Just ignore the foam peeking out there!

The next time I make one of these, I'm going to add smaller sequins to some of the pins to look like ornaments on the tree, maybe some of those bird shaped sequins.

Nice. ^_^ I love shiny stuff. I like the star too.  Cheesy Reminds me of the Peanuts christmas special (the trees, not the star).

Thanks! I've made a gold one and a teal one too, as gifts. I'd really like to find metallic brown sequins in this size, but alas!

I love the Charlie Brown Christmas Special! I think if I'd been alive in the 50s, I probably would have had a pink aluminium tree!

They are really neat vegebrarian!  I imagine painting the cone before sequinning or using smaller sequins to fill in the gaps might help to conceal the foam.  They're really cute though!

I've seen similar ones at target selling for around $10!  Thanks for the post! Smiley

yep, I've seen the overpriced target ones! Super fitting for your lilac room, but if it were me I would have a colorful forest of sequin trees! Ok I say that now, I bet pushing pins isn't as fun as it sounds...

I put these out in the living room this year with lots of other little trees. I've been looking at them and thinking I need to make several more. I think a red one would be cool and another in emerald green...or black and gold together.

Another thing I tried was wrapping ribbon around the foam so it would peek through in certain places.

You do get a bit of an indentation in your thumb after putting these together!  Smiley
