A good friend of mine is expecting, but isn't going to find out the baby's sex (at least not until it's born)  But being impatient, I wanted to get started on a gift.  Inspired by the brown quilt here:http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=265757.0.  I decided to use a similar color sceme.

Here's the pattern http://www.connectingthreads.com/patterns/city-view-pattern_PD991401.html

I used recycled comforter filling as batting.  This made it WAY to thick to machine quilt, so I tied it instead using 6 strands of embroidery floss.  It got very puffy, which I think is kind of nice.  It also got kind of puckery when I washed it, which is not very nice.
I was a little disappointed that I did not read all of the directions before beginning.  Based on the back pieces, the quilt should have been about 6 inches longer and wider.  But the front ends up being that much smaller.  I folded the edges of the back over instead of using separate binding.  If I had been more observant in the beginning, I would have made the top bigger.

Looks like it will be nice and cozy for baby to play on!

If you are working on (or thinking about starting) a postage stamp quilt with 1.5" squares, I have scraps and squares to give away.  PM me if you're interested.

I like it.  Brown and green is a favorite color combination of mine and I agree that the puffiness will be fun for the baby to play on.  Also, I love the pieced back.  It's just like having two quilts in one.   Smiley
