So my parents had this very kitch tea towel my whole life,it stole it one day ,and petted it and wanted it to live a better life,it was so splendid to dry tea cups  Wink

I just could never think of a way to make it more splendid

Until I decided that appliqueing the birds onto a skirt I had cut out and ready to sew, from teal baby cord could be the answer to my re incarnation of the tea towel

I free hand machine embriodered the birds in the end to hold them down, rather than satin stitch applique,I used embrodery theads which are so shiny and bring the birds alive, in my opinion  Smiley

I finished the hem on the skirt with emerald green satin bias tape and some very ancient ric rac, which again....I may have stolen from my Mums sewing basket,I guess she once put it on a dress for me  Wink

Some close ups of the birds now  Grin

The bias tape trimmed facing pleases me too

THanks for looking i would love to hear, read your thoughts on this skirt!!!

Absolutely lovely! I'm a sucker for birds so this is right up my alley. I think what really makes this piece for me is all the different textures on the skirt; between the corduroy, satin, and rickrack it's just splendid. Kudos and well done!
