i made this journal as a yule gift for a friend.  she is traveling to thailand this spring and i thought she would appreciate somewhere to keep the memories of her trip. this is my first hand-bound journal, and i was quite pleased with how it turned out.

i really liked the long ribbons used as a closure.  they remind me of the yards fabric used to create an obi.

comments/ crits always welcome!  thanks for looking.

beautiful journal.  That could easily cost upwards of $20 at a store.

What an absolutely beautiful journal.  You did a lovely job.  I especially love the ribbon, is it attached to the journal or separate?

This is really nice! I love the colors! Did you use scrapbook paper?

I agree with all the previous posts, your journal is very professional looking. My favourite part is how "thai" the colours are. Did you put something underneath the fabric or is it stretched directly over cardboard?

thank you for you kind words everyone!

amiemoo- the ribbons are indeed attached.  they are glued in beneath the endpapers on the backs of the two covers.

frogz- the fabric-looking part of the cover isn't really fabric, it is just some fancy scrapbook paper that my friend gave me.

It's shape is rather aerodynamic, isn't it. I can feel it. This deskset wants to fly... Todd... the world's first unmanned flying deskset.
