What do you do when you don't have enough of any one yarn to make a hat, but you do have 2 coordinating colors?  Why, you make a 2 tone hat.  This is Knitty's coronet.  The cable, and about 1.5" of the hat (that's hidden by the cable) are done in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in color 202 (left over from Tempting) and the rest of the hat is in Cascade Lana D'Oro in Stonehenge left over from another sweater.

Her dirty paws and furry coat,
She ran down the forest slope.
The forest of talking trees,
They used to sing about the birds and the bees.
The bees had declared a war,
The sky wasn't big enough for them all.

Thanks!  My glasses are two tone, too!  They're blue with a layer of yellow plastic behind the blue.  I love them.  I've had them for like 4 years now, and I've never found another pair I like as well.

I really like the hat! I think it looks much better in two colors.
I have to try that myself...

That is uber-cute.  I hadn't thought of making the coronet in two colors, but I did at one point try to do it with two-color cable work (you know, cables are a different color than the background).  I failed miserably at it.  You've inspired me to give it another shot!

This is so cool in 2 colors!  I made one in red last year and it was just fun to make!!  It was my first cable project.  Anyone thinking of trying cables should try this hat, I think it's pretty cool looking too!

Your hat looks great!  One of my friends also did her coronet in two colors, white and blue patton's classic merion.

 Huh
I just posted a new topic about this but thought one of you who have made the two-tone version might know... roughly how much yarn did it take to do the cable band part?

Ooh what a good idea! I have 3 partial balls of cashmerino left over from Kate, and... I've just learnt cables! Yay!
