My 2 year old son likes to help me in the kitchen and so I wanted to make him an apron for Christmas.  I wanted it to be masculine enough for a boy,so I made it with some train fabric a friend gave me a while back.

Here it is as modeled by my rocking chair.  It has three pockets on the front.  One skinny one for a spoon, or whatever.  It ties at the neck and waist so hopefully it fits him for awhile.  I will post a picture of him in it whenever I can get one.

oooh!  I like this.  I like the tunnels as the pockets, especially.

Ds1 who is train-obsessed is clamoring for one - any idea where your friend got the fabric?

I have no idea where she got the fabric...she gave it to me a year ago.  I will ask her when I see her though.

It's not what you know, but what you do with what you know that is important.

I have this awesome material that says "nerds rock" with science stuff ALL over it and have been wondering what to do with this. My son is also 2 years old and I think I have enough for matching aprons for us. I was just going to make some boxers but this is so much more cool thanks!

My DS would go absolutely crazy for that material, he's in a train obsession, proven by the small fortune in Thomas trains from one end of the house to the other lol.

I love the apron style, something to file away in the brain 'idea box', as his 'cars' apron is getting too small for him and well just isn't as cool as your apron.
