Pheew! After a year of planning, my department's Christmas party is finally over... We were 3 to organize it, and had to overcome a lot of obstacles... but we made it! All the stressing out and loosing sleep over details was well worth it. I wanted to cry when we got done decorating! HAHA

When we got there, there was nothing but a Christmas tree in a corner of the room (you can't see it in these pictures)

So... we turned this ugly hotel reception room:

Into this awesome (if I do say so myself) lounge bar!!!

We had rented LED spotlights that changed color throughout the evening... it looked GREAT!!!

We hung a couple hundred snowflakes from the ceiling, and the mural we hung in the back shows a snowy forest...

The "drapes" we hung are actually plastic table cover rolls...

It turned out great... now I need a break!!

How fun! You turned a very blah room into a very swanky fun room. Looks great!

Very cool! I love it! It looked nothing like the cold reception room you started with. You have every right to be proud of yourself!

It is my job to "enhance" our high school's auditorium lobby when there are events in there. I would like to borrow your "table covering/light" idea. What kind of lights do you have behind the plastic sheeting? It is so divinely dramatic.

I loooove the lighting too, it captured the mood we wanted to set perfectly! We had been imagining it for months but when the guy came to install the actual spotlights I couldn't wait for him to leave to jump around clapping in my hands: ah c'est beau c'est beau!!!  Wink

The lights were called PAR64, they have LED bulbs. They were perfect since you could program them to change colors at whatever speed, etc. plus they didn't get hot to the touch which was great. We placed the lights in front of the tablecovers but I guess the effect might be similar lit from the back since you could sort of see through the white "tablecloth".

That is awesome.  It's not easy to turn dreary hotel reception rooms into anything nice - and you totally did!   That's really impressive!!
