Every Sunday, my dad used to make a yummy homemade breakfast for all of us (I have three sisters), and we’d gather in the kitchen for some nice family time. It was awesome, and man… that guy can make some breakfast! Sometimes it was waffles or french toast, but probably the most frequent (and my favorite) was chocolate chip pancakes (with lil’ smokies breakfast sausages…mmm). This isn’t his recipe, but it’s durned good.

Step-by-Step Recipe here with tons of photos.

Short version of the recipe
Puffy pancakes

Ingredients:

    * 3 cups flour
    * 6 Tablespoons sugar
    * 1/4 tsp. salt
    * 2 Tablespoons baking powder
    * 3 eggs
    * 1/3 cup canola oil
    * 1+ cup milk

Mix the dry ingredients. Mix the wet ingredients. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Add milk if needed. Cook in a pan over medium heat  (or on a griddle if you’re fancy like that). If you want, add chocolate chips or blueberries after you spoon the batter onto the pan, before you flip them! Enjoy!

Have you ever had chocolate chip pancakes before? Is it "normal"? I always thought they were special. haha.
Do you have any favorite weekend traditions? My husband and I don't have kids yet, but we plan on doing something special each weekend with our future children, like making breakfast and then going for a hike or bike-ride or something...

Chocolate chip pancakes are always going to be my favorite breakfast.  I'll have to give this recipe to the bf (he's the cook in the household - I am SO spoiled).

Gotta go...now my tummy's rumbling from the yummy picture.  Tongue

awww....that brings back such good memories.  My dad made breakfast every sunday too...either choc chip,berry, or apple cinnamon pancakes.  He used to make plain ones up for the parrots (and later the dogs too) and now that we've all moved out he now still makes a batch up every few weeks and freezes them so he can thaw out a few every week for the pets Smiley

Yay! It always makes me happy to hear that someone else knows what chocolate chip pancakes even are! How cool that both our dads used to do that. Smiley

Wow!  Those look great!  I looked at the picture tutorial and I think I'll make some soon... maybe I'll use some red, white, and green chips I saw for Holiday Pancakes.  Smiley

ooooooo...yummy!  I could just eat my computer screen!

but I won't.   Tongue

I think it's NOT normal to have NEVER eaten them.  yup, that's right.  I have never had chocolate chip pancakes.  NEVER.  I feel so deprived.  I think I'm the only person in the world that has never had them.  Tongue
