Here is my sister's christmas gift!  It's a portrait of Madeline Kahn from the movie Clue...she plays Mrs. White and her weapon is the rope.  If anyone can pick out another symbol from the movie that I've incorporated (from dialogue) you are the BEST!

here's a wider shot:

and lastly:

I should post the pic I used for the portrait:

I traced the section I wanted using carbon paper onto plain white cotton fabric.  The rest I drew using free-hand, and embroidered with whatever stitches I could think of...hehe.

Mrs. White has always been our favourite (we grew up watching the film).  Please let me know what you think!  Merry Christmas!!!

That is way cool! Your workmanship and attention to detail is very impressive.

I haven't seen Clue for years, but damn it was funny. My love for Tim Curry knows no bounds. Cheesy Too bad the delightful Ms Kahn is no longer with us.  Cry

Whoa. I saw the thumbnail and thought, "Is that... Mrs. White?" That's pretty awesome.

I must have watched that movie 200 times growing up. It's still one of my favorites. My sisters and I still quote it.

"Flames... Flames, on the side of my face..."  Cheesy

OMG I love this !!!!!
My sister is majorly obsessed with the movie and game Clue. In fact she has an entire Clue themed living room and has bought two of each game version that she can find. We shadow boxed them last year and she has them hanging everywhere, she also has game boards hanging up. Her husband recently started buying her all the game boards from all over the world. They are super cool.

This is amazing and Madeline Kahn is her favorite character. I can't show her this post or I will be making this for her next !!!! You did a great job! It looks wonderful!!!!

AMAZING JOB!

I loved this movie, then my high school did the play and I was in it, so the love grew more. i wanted to be mrs. white but ended up being a female Mr. body.....it was my first time in a play so can't really blame them for making me dead through out half the thing...haha

OMG!  I gasped when I saw this!  This is so freakin' cool!  It is amazing!  I love all the special touches you added like the noose and the flames!  I <3 that movie and she was one of my fave characters, too!

For an extra treat you can read Steven Millhauser's 'Barnum Museum' (he is one of my fave authors and that book also contains the short story 'eisenheim the illusionist' that that edward norton movie was based on) and the first short story in that collection is about the game of 'clue'!

There are so many things about this that amazes me: the idea of it, the inside joke you put in there, but as a fellow stitcher, the shadowing is spot on, and I love that you put beads in there inside of just stitching them. I am so so impressed.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Thank you everyone!  My sister loved the portrait.  Madeline Kahn *is* a goddess--and if you haven't already, go back and watch the movie, paying close attention to her facial expressions: it's an entirely new movie!  She is so hilarious!

"Are you a doctor" <eyelash flutter>

"Flies are where men are most vulnerable!"

<to Prof. Plum> "Get off me."

Wadsworth: "But that was your second husband.  Your first husband also disappeared"
Mrs. White: "But that was his job.  He was an illusionist"
Wadsworth: "But he never reappeared!"
Mrs. White:  "He wasn't a very good illusionist."

Wadsworth:  "Another denial!"
Mrs. White:  "ppttthhppt!"
