Hi all! Batgirl and I are trying to brainstorm a challenge for this board. Is there any interest? And if you are interested, do you have any ideas for challenges? I would like it to be as inclusive as possible, but that may be a little hard for a board with such variety. Here's a couple I was kinda mulling over:

*A Packaging challenge. How do you package your soap, bath bombs, make-up, perfume, etc?

*A melt and pour soap challenge, it could be semi-specific (make something that looks like a baked good?) or just wide open.

*A color challenge, use any method to show off your favorite, or maybe a specific color (hair color, mineral make-up, swirled soap, lip gloss)

*A word challenge, throw out a word and see how it is interpreted in various forms (creamy, bronzed, asymetrical, other fun word)

*A "realistic" challenge, I'm sure you've all seen the steak soap on here! Soap that really looks like something else.

Please weigh in with your ideas, or if you particularly love/hate any of these.

There would definitely be prizes for the winner(s)   Grin

I love the idea of B&B challenges.  I think the broader ones (colors, word association) might be better to start with, since everyone makes different stuff with different materials.

You could do things like a "eco-friendly" challenge, "for men" challenge, items inspired by books or movie characters, or a single ingredient kind of thing (you know, "use one lemon...", "incorporate cocoa butter...", etc.)

You've probably already thought of all of those, though, since they're pretty much the standard challenge topics!

I agree with Canto that "broader" would be better. I like the idea of "for men" since, let's face it: men are hard to craft for sometimes! I even like the inspired by books or movie characters (I make a soap inspired by "Memoirs of a Geisha")

Would it be possible to do a "knock-off" or "inspired by" challenge where people show a product/item they made that is inspired by a major label? For instance I have a friend who makes a gorgeous scrub that is inspired by a BBW scrub.

I like the packaging idea because I have seen some amazing packaging ideas on here.

The single ingredient challenge is interesting, too. Since so many ingredients are versatile across the board (all bath products) that would be fun. The single lemon one made me chuckle because it sounds like a true challenge!

ETA: I forgot I thought of one as a "story behind this" challenge. A lot of people on here seem to have a bath product that has a funny or interesting story behind its creation which could be fun, too!

LOL, no I hadn't thought of any of those, great ideas!

I would love to see a challenge on this board. I don't know for sure if I can join in on the first one depends on when baby decides to arrive but I would love to see what you all come up with.
