Does your craft stash exceed life expectancy? Is it overflowing your crafting area? Do you have dozens of UFOs and piles of WIPS?

Well save some money and free your craft area... join us in the Great DeStash-Along 2009!

Try to post at least one stashbusting project per month (but more is even better!). Here's a list of themes that you can follow each month if you are in need of inspiration (totally optional! Pick them all [admittedly tricky], or pick none at all).

January: white, winter, plaid, owls/birds, for yourself
February: red, polka dots, hearts, "adult" things, for the kitchen
March: green, pin stripes, shopping bags, inspired by a game, for your SO/other loved one,
April: pink, paisley, rain, recycled/repurposed items, for the bedroom
May: purple, argyle, toys/playthings, subversive crafts, for your parents
June: blue, ATCs, craft-themed, pin-up girls, for your kids
July: yellow, animal prints, vacation, patriotic, for the bathroom
August: metallics, lacy, sea life, crafts from a different time, for the exterior of your house
September: black, back to school, more arty less crafty, wearables, for your pets
October: orange, sparkly, skulls/skeletons, inspired by music, for a costume
November: brown, natural prints, craft you've never tried before, trees/leaves, for a holiday gift
December: holiday colours, animals, inspired by a book or movie, snowflakes, for charity/acts of Craftivism

Ooooo.... this sounds good!  This is a great New Year's Resolution!  I have a dedicated sewing room that's overflowing with fabric.  AND...  we built a shop in our garage to house my paper-crafting addiction.  I have cardstock and patterned paper out the wa-zoo (so much that I'm too overwhelmed to use it!).  I'd love to pare down.  Not sure I can guarantee a monthly project, but I'll keep checking back and posting progress reports!

This does sound like fun! All my friends delight in giving me old fabric, so now I have a huge stash. Anything to make it smaller would me me(and the rest of my family) incredibly happy!

That's a good first project for me, actually! Maybe I'll take my list up to this thread too.

I'm glad there's some interest!

Count me in! This sounds fun, and with the economy in the toilet, it's good to be using up what we have instead of buying more to add to the pile.  Cheesy

I have an insane amount of beads. And I have lots of sewing projects to do.

me seven! stash has moved on enough that plans for projects have been buried amongst the hoard. 1st craft, journal for projects with action plan up front and centred with list of available supplies (might be scary). My new year's resolution might just be to resist the call of all craft supply stores until a serious enough dent has been made!

I'm glad we've got some participants! And yes... the state of the economy is a great argument for using up the old stash!
