Sounds gruesome doesn't it?  Nothing of the sort, they are just crocheted snowmen heads as ornaments.  I was tempted to add X's for the eyes, and yarny blood drips, but I knew some of the recipients (Sis and MIL) would not appreciate it - will have to keep it in mind for my tree, and a few others though.  I have something like two dozen of these made as gift toppers:

I love the novelty buttons I found to decorate the sides of the hats - holly leaves and snowflakes.
