Princess Zelda bookmark

I made this bookmark for the Zelda swap.
I drew the character in photoshop and used my digitizing software's cross-stitch function. I had to tweak the design many times before it finally worked.

That came out amazing!  Out of curiosity - what digitizing software did you use?  I have not purchased the cross stitch add on for Embird yet.  I guess I am still upset by how bad the backsides of my hand cross stitch looked 20+ years ago when I did it last    That really updates the image of cross stitch that's for sure!  My kids want bookmarks sooo  bad - I wonder if I could find a design for a dragon or a final fantasy character... hmmmm... maybe I can do it for Easter - my end of the year is pretty well sealed by now... I am running out of time that's for sure!

That rocks! I saw it in the Zelda gallery too & went crazy over it.  I did not want to hog the thread as a lurker oohing & aahing. 

How did you digitize it? 

I want to digitize so much but the whole thing confuses me like crazy.  I swear digitizers are magicians.  I really believe that, lol.

I used Corel DraWings to digitize it.
The cross-stitch function turns a bitmap into cross-stitch but it doesn't allow for detailed stitch editing. That's why I had to start over several times, tweak the bitmap and correct some imperfections by hand once the machine embroidery was done.
I'm only using DraWings because I'm familiar with Corel Draw, I wouldn't recommend it if you want good control over your digitizing.

Love love love it!  Those stitches look absolutely tiny, was it aida fabric you used?  If so what count? 

I am also hitting this rocks, because it does, and you should be very pleased with yourself.

Thank you for the tips.  I read Corel Draw is one of the best for doing digitizing work before you take it to your machine.  I am very familiar with the program but have always been intimidated by the cross-stitch functions, lol.  I love it for other things.
