I came across this mandala and I thought it would be interesting to stitch.  I also think it would make a very cool tattoo...hmmmm Cheesy  I think it represents my family; husband, myself and our son.  I am also Pisces so this ties in the fish theme.

This is the first "pattern" I have ever followed.  I made up the stitching as I went along.  After taking the pictures, I see more white areas than I thought.  I will go back and touch up with colored pencil.  And I also learned that I used a horrible weak fabric, too thin and not very sturdy.

I know my stitching is nothing compared to others but I am pleased with it.  I would love to try it again on different fabric as well as different stitches.  I plan on repeating this mandala in different mediums; paint, pencil, beads...  I would LOVE to recreate this in fabric, even felt.

A close up of my favorite fish ~

As always, thanks for looking and let me know what you think, comments and criticism welcomed.

Want to learn to crochet or knit?  I have a ton of extra crochet hooks & circular knitting needles.  Will throw in some pattern books and yarn for anyone interested in a swap.

Love the design and the colors! I especially like that it's not the usual pale, thin outline but is filled in and full of vibrant colors and some texture. Makes me want to try embroidery. Thanks for sharing!

Mah-velous! I love the colors/stitching/composition but mostly the TEXTURE! For some reason I just want to touch it!

I tried to choose colors that would stand out.

Hee, hee,  I feel the same way.  Cheesy I love the texture.  The back of the fish is herringbone-like and that is kind of cool..
