This is wonderful  - double props for it being your first time. Sometimes simple is so elegant, as you've shown here. I love the color choice, and your stitches are very neat and smooth. Welcome to crochet!

lol you're lucky. The first few projects I crocheted I only did the back loop because I didn't know better. But I guess the ribbed look is pretty cool anyways. That's what I get for learning how to crochet off the internet! How many DC is it across? It's the perfect width.  Smiley

Nothing wrong with the ribbed look!  Smiley  Have you ever tried Tunisian? It's a very nice ribbing technique which looks similar to Cakie's scarf.  I tried to duplicate your stitch Cakie, but my DC's don't look at tight as yours.. what hook size did you use if you don't mind?

I used 3.25 with 35 stitches across.

Looking at it now I think I didn't do it correctly, haha!
Where it had instruction to pull up a loop through the front or back stitch, I inserted it beneath both the front and back loops.

(in red is how I stitched, and I put a dot where I pushed in the hook)

I hope this makes more sense!!
