my gift is for the newly born baby of a friend. i still have my first teddy bear. and while it wasn't my best, it's remained the most precious reminder of my childhood. it would be my honor to have a "baby" i made, serve as the same sort of reminder of childhood. that is the inspiration for my attempt at sewing. secondly, if it's going to be worthy of such stamp of approval, it better be mean something, right? so, i've tried to combine the simplicity of everyday items, my unprofessional sewing skills, the imagination of color, pattern, ect! with the durability required for the journey. i heard a quote that the best thing about getting older is that you never lose the ages you've been. my apologies to my ignorance of the author, but it's the most beautiful thing this dorky grrl has ever heard. so, here's my giraffe, as homemade as it is. made of socks, thread, stuffing and heart. totally freehand. totally handmade. thank you for being a part of it! it's fun to make art!

It seems that different people have an idea of what I am, and what I should be. And then there's me.
