When you can't build-a-bear, you can always build a sock monkey.

This year I decided to make my little sister's (
christmas gift. For both the fun of it and because I'm a poor college student haha
I always wanted to take her to a build a bear workshop but there aren't any nearby where I live and it's waaaaay too expensive
So I did the next best thing and made her her very own build-a -bear kit using all of her favorite things.
I started by making the build a bear carton that will carry all of the supplies. I started with a regular cardboard box and painted the sides and cut the top until I had something similar to the build-a-bear "condo" after it dried I colored it with blue sharpie marker to somewhat look like the box.
Next I gave her all of the sewing supplies that she will need in her project and taped them into the inside of a CD case.
I sewed a sock monkey and a monkey from tutes I found in the stuffie section of craftster and left them unstuffed, She can either sew one friend or two. I used her favorite colors, pink and baby blue
I put all of the stuffing she will need into a plastic baggie along with a baby mini felt heart I sewed for the inside of her stuffie.
Becca is crafty herself so I didn't include any clothing for her monkey, instead I included her own felt pieces and pieces of fabric so she can sew her own looks for her monkey.
Finally I made a birth certificate for her monkey. All around the edges I included small pictures of cartoon monkeys that she can color in including mojojojo from the power puff girls
That's all, thanks for looking

I love it! Great idea! That is so much more special than a bear from a factory, and she gets to do all the fun stuff herself!

That is a *wonderful* idea, so clever and each detail is so thoughtful. I especially love the stuffed heart to go inside the monkey!
You have one very lucky sister!
