I've been recently fascinated with the concept of "upcycling", not just reusing things, but making them better.  Well, what's more in need of some serious upcycling than lame christmas gifts?  I'm speaking of two in particular here... the ugly christmas sweater, and the standard give away tie for dad.  I thought I could turn them into something better... quick and simple!

Instant punk mittens!  No knitting required, you just use the hem of an old sweater to make the cuff. 

And an ugly old tie, reused and recycled into a swank gift card holder.  You were never going to use that tie anyway...

great ideas. i love your machine embroidery designs! it's so tough to find designs that aren't country scenes or strange looking teddy bears. i'll def have to keep checking back for new ones!
