Hi everyone---here is my entry!  My husband loves loves loves books by eric carle so we decided to get my cousins baby the book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' which lines up great with my entry!  I made a caterpillar that is reversible side is the caterpillar and the other side is the cocoon!  And I also made the butterfly that comes out of the cocoon!  Its the whole process! (except the eating.....i still have some time that might happen before christmas)

The caterpillar

its reversable!!

kind of a weird picture but----in the process of reversing

All reversed cocoon!

The cocoon and the new Butterfly!

A Butterfly!!

I really wanted to take all the pictures outside and hang the cocoon in a tree---but sadly it has rained like all week so no good....but I think you get the idea

I also tried really hard to make it look very child like.....not paying too much attention to straight lines....tough to do especially for a perfectionist!  And my biggest influence was of coarse Eric Carle and his wonderful book The Very Hungry Caterpillar  check it out!  http://www.eric-carle.com/home.html

Really cute idea.
Maybe just a leaf in the mouth for eating. Not too complicated.

Very impressive - I bet getting it to reverse was a bit tricky.

That is fabulous.  I want to make one for some little ones I know, but not sure I could figure out how to make it reversible.  Very good job, we all love Eric Carle :-)

I bought a copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar the other day for my friend's son (we both loved it when we were kids).  When I went to buy it there were some that came with caterpillars, that I resolved not to get because the caterpillar was horrifying and creepy.
I think you should work for the company that made that caterpillar and school them in how it should be done. This is wonderful!
