I made this and posted it a while ago but since it is for christmas, I figured that I can post it again for the challenge Cheesy. I have been sitting on this for so long I am about to just throw it at him and forget christmas. Or keep it since it feels really neat Grin
I saw this idea in a kids craft book that I got at a thrift store and I was so excited to try it. I decided that my reason for making this, other than the shear joy of drinking beer for a purpose, would be for it to be a gift for my 9 year old nephew.  I started saving bottle caps immediately... then began assembling it... so far away from christmas. I had to put it on a shelf and "forget" about it...
so, without further adeux, the terrifying bottle cap snake:

I made the head and tail from polymer clay:

here is a close up of his head:

and an action shot to show how fearsome and ferocious he is:

I know that he is going to love it! I just hope that he doesn't break it 10 seconds after he receives it!

I love this! Is it just string through the middle?

Yeah. I embedded an eye hook into the tail and put two holes in the snakes mouth so that I could string it all up and have it be doubled. I must say it was more fun than it should have been to puncture holes in a ton of bottle caps (my husband would probably say otherwise since he had to sit and hear me do it for hours)!
