This is for my 8 yr old cousin, who has always loved fossils, and actually sit still and listen to me talk about them for hours (a surprisingly rare thing for such an energetic child). I hope he likes them... (these pictures didn't turn out very well. My camera doesn't like red for some reason)

I made a stamp out of craft foam to put the trilobites on the t-shirt with soft fabric paint. They aren't so blurry in real life...

I guess I had a flashback to the 90s when kids shirts would be completely covered in a motif, often of dinosaurs. It seemed fitting.

I outlined the one on the center front in gold puffy paint, with a bite out of it for classic geology nerd humor: tri-lo-bite

The trilobite is made out of mottled brown felt and stuffed. I cut it so his underbelly is a lighter, yellowish color. He's a little skinny, but I was proud since I drafted the pattern myself from scratch. My friend said that he wouldn't be passing on his genes because it looks like he's starving. :-(  I guess I should of made his little flagellae segments more substantial, poor thing. And his antennae have pipe cleaners inside them so they are bendable.

Aw, don't you love it when you can impart nerdiness on young impressionable minds? I LOVE that trilobite plush. Think i'd have to make me an opabinia to eat him up!

As far as passing on his genes, you never know. The ladies could have really loved the new, trim look. Bravo to you; it looks so complicated!

my husband would dig this. he's always poking around. I might borrow your idea and add multiple fossils. I think you can sell these shirts.  Love your method of display- i do that too.

Love the shirt and the plush.
I've always thought fossils and trilobites were neat. I bet it's one of the bestest gifts he gets.

That's awesome, I thought I was the only trilobite nerd.

I especially like the felt one. Don't worry about him not passing on his genes, it makes sense since they're extinct  Tongue
