I actually traced them! For each animal, I did a Google image search until I found the image I liked, then saved and re-sized it. I have a flat LCD monitor, so I could just trace from there (CRT monitors won't work like this!), or you could print it the correct size. Then I used it as a pattern piece for each one.

I'm new to the site and getting so inspired with many ideas.  Yours is at the top of my list for my nephew's son who will be born in Jan, 09.  This will give me a year as I am planning on making it for Christmas.  Very personal.  Great job on yours and the inspiration you have given me.
